When the world shifted to remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic, so much of what made Beekley Medical special: our culture, our connections, our ability to come together as one team, suddenly felt distant. Recognizing the need to bridge that gap for new hires, a new employee group called The Common Thread was formed.
What began as a virtual touchpoint for engagement has since grown into something much bigger. Today, The Common Thread is led by three passionate “tri-chairs” who are committed to carrying on its mission of connection and inclusion.
From Remote Beginnings to In-Person Connections
In its earliest days, The Common Thread was about giving new associates a warm welcome, even if it had to happen virtually. It provided a space to not only learn about Beekley’s culture but also to experience it through meaningful conversation and shared activities.
Now, as the group meets in person, its agenda is ever evolving. Associates might spend time with colleagues who have been part of Beekley for many years, engage in team-building games, or simply share stories that highlight their own “common threads.” This mix of fun and reflection helps strengthen bonds across departments and experience levels.
How New Associates Benefit
Joining a new company can feel overwhelming. The Common Thread helps ease that transition by offering:
- A sense of belonging: New associates quickly learn they’re not alone in adjusting to Beekley life.
- Cross-department appreciation: By hearing how each role contributes to our shared mission, associates gain a greater respect for the whole team.
- Opportunities for connection: Icebreakers and group activities break down barriers and foster genuine relationships.
- A stronger cultural foundation: New hires don't just read about Beekley values; they see them in action through colleagues living them out.
The Heart of the Thread
At its core, The Common Thread is about people. It’s about building connections, finding common ground, and weaving together the unique talents and perspectives that make Beekley Medical such a special place to work.
Whether you’ve been here for years or are just starting your journey, The Common Thread is a reminder that we’re all part of something bigger and that together, we make a difference.
