Celebrating the Fruits of Our Labor by Giving Back

fruits_of_our_labor"Wear bright colors." That's all we were told.

The theme of Beekley Corporation's mid-year luncheons are always a mystery, but we are always sure that it will be wildly creative and fun. So when we found a carnival with a twist awaiting us, we knew we were in for a great time!

The midyear luncheon is Beekley leadership's way of saying thank you for the hard work and efforts of all the Beekley teams with a few hours of fun, food, and camaraderie.  It's part of our culture and "work hard, play hard" philosophy.

This year we got the chance to put two key parts of our corporate DNA into play as the twist was the chance to to play hard and win big for one (or all) of the following charities: Feed the Children, Doctors Without Borders, Wounded Warrior Project, and the Connecticut Humane Society. As an added bonus, Beekley Corporation would provide a 150% match to the donations the associates gave to each charity.

Of course, Beekley is no stranger to this sort of altruism - our mission as a company is to make the lives of everyone we touch a little better.

Beekley frequently hosts and participates in many fundraising events and even donates a portion of the proceeds of our mammography SPOT® skin markers each year to local and national organizations that fund research, awareness and early detection programs in the fight against breast cancer.

When it came time to pick charities for the mid-year luncheon, Karin Copeland, Beekley's Director of Continuous Learning & Leadership Development, wanted to choose a variety of causes. "We wanted to select charities that we weren’t already donating to (or had recently donated to) through other initiatives," such as ARC Angel, St. Pat's for St. Jude, and the Bristol Boys and Girls Club. Based upon a survey of interests from a few years ago, Karin narrowed her search to charities involving children, animals, international aid, and our military.

Since these four charities were already well-known by most of our associates, the competition for tickets was on!

Welcome to the Carnival

When all the tickets were tallied, the donations with Beekley’s match totaled $367.50 to Feed the Children, $622.50 to Doctors Without Borders, $692.50 to Wounded Warrior Project, and a whopping $817.50 to The Humane Society. You can tell Beekley Associates love their pets!

And of course, the fruits of our own labor were not forgotten. The winning teams were recognized for their carnival prowess and in addition to being treated to a few hours of fun, each Beekley Associate also received a gift card as a thank you for their contributions mid-way through the year.

Work Hard, Play Hard, Give Back - just a few of the ingredients that make Beekley a "Great Small Company." Visit our careers page to learn more about our culture and working at Beekley.
